Location of the Steve Biko Building - South Campus 

The main Union building is numbered 68 and Manchester Academy 78 on this campus map. Academy 2, Academy 3 and Academy 4 are located in the main Union building.

 

The Academy is a one-storey, red-brick building on Oxford Road within the South Campus of Manchester University. Academy 2, Academy 3 and Academy 4 are venues located within the main Students' Union Building, also called the Steve Biko Building, which is adjacent to Academy 1 on Oxford Road.

Leave the bus station on Chorlton Street turn left and walk the short distance up to Portland Street. Turn left onto Portland Street and find the bus stop outside the big insurance building set back from the road. Look out for buses in the 40s and ask the driver for the University. Ask for the University or Students' Union and get off at Dover Street near Holy Name Church. Cross Oxford Road to the Union which is a large, grey, three-storey building.

 

Arriving by rail 

If you arrive at Victoria Station:

Best take a cab You could catch the link bus to Piccadilly Station and a train to Oxford Road Station

If you arrive at Piccadilly Station you could: 

Take a cab Catch the 147 bus which goes to the North campus on Sackville Street and to the South campus on Oxford Road Catch another train to Oxford Road Station Catch the tram into Piccadilly Gardens and then a bus in the 40s to the Union

 

If you arrive at Oxford Road Station you could:

Walk out of the station taking steps on right or following the road, turn right onto Oxford Road and walk for ten minutes to the Union Find your way to Oxford Road as above, cross over and take a bus in front of the big hotel there to the Union

 

Car parking 

Official car parking for the Union and its venues is in the Theatre Car Park just below, or south of, the Academy, building number 78 - it is labelled P 180 on the map (180 indicates the number of spaces). Access to Theatre Car Park is via Denmark Street off Oxford Road. Turn right on to Acomb Street and right at end (on to Dilworth Street), over the humps to the car park entrance two hundred metres up on the left. You need pound coins to operate the barrier (after 4.30pm). There is a multi-storey car park on the corner of Booth Street East and Upper Brook Street which provides safe and convenient public parking a short walk from the Students' Union building and the Academy venues. It is labelled P 600 on the map (600 indicates the number of spaces).
